Advanced Create #1
In this exercise I had to create a melody of at least 16 measures from my background line. Well, I almost did that. I kinda did the background line writing and the melodic composing at the same time. Oops. It's in the Mixolydian mode and is supposed to have a sea chanty feel to it.

I like it a lot. You do eventually get the Sea shanty feel so I wouldn't be to worried about that, but the mode does make it feel less shanty. All in all a wonderful piece.
ReplyDeleteI like it as well. although the computer does not make the piano sound good so i cant really get the full feeling of it. but over all it sounds really good.
ReplyDeletei enjoy it. i felt some irish/scottish feel in it. i feel like with more instruments your intentions would be clearer and it'd be more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThe rhythms in this make it feel like a chanty, and I like your use of the mode. Parts of it really sound mixolydian, and parts sound major - the ending doesn't quite sound like the end to me. What could you do to make it more modal? Articulations and dynamics would help a performer play this melody the way you hear it in your head.
ReplyDeleteI'm finding it a little hard to hear the 6/8, but I think that's alright because you said it's supposed to feel like a sea chanty. It's very nice :) You should add other parts, this could be super cool
